What is a Synchronised control?
The ‘Sync’ tool is a powerful feature that allows two controls to simultaneously switch positions when they are linked by the titles of their tabs. These controls may share identical tab titles, but contain different tab contents; thus the synchronisation enables you to switch between charts independently using a single control.

Example: Brand Awareness by Region Sync
Consider a scenario where you need to create a brand awareness chart and filter it by region. You only want specific brands to be shown for the different regions, but your dataset doesn't have a distinct brand distribution by geographical regions, (so each brand can belong to several regions):
| Region1 | Region2 | Region3 |
Brand1 | v | v | v |
Brand2 | v |
| v |
Brand3 | v | v |
|
Brand4 |
| v | v |
Your task is to show specific brands for each region, for example your brand + main competitor. To achieve this, you can manually assign brands to regions with the help of the 'Sync' control option.
Begin by creating a chart that has the list of brands in the rows (with one total column).
In the dashboard, create a control from the 'Region' variable.
Then, create a control with multiple tabs, where each tab is named exactly after the different regions, and each tab is populated with the brands that you want to display for that specific region.
Select the chart and click the ‘Filter’ toggle under ‘Show in header’ to ensure that you can always see the correct region above the chart.
Assign the controls;
Click on the Region control, select ‘Sync’ on the command bar of the other brand control and then select ‘Filter’ on the command bar of the chart
Then, select the brand control and assign it to the chart as “Put on: Rows”
Go to VIEW mode and switch between regions.
The sync-assigned control is hidden automatically. To make it visible, click the visibility eye in the widget settings toolbar.
